Solar panels on dairy, beef and tillage farms can now receive grant aid under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS).
Dairy, beef and tillage farmers will get full grant support for up to 11kWp of solar pv and 6kWp of battery storage. In addition, with the reference pricing in place, most farmers can secure a 40% grant on their solar pv investment with young qualified farmers getting up to 60% or a 30% BEC grant from the Sustainability Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The SEAI (non-domestic) agriculture and business solar pv grant are based on solar panel kWp output. The maximum grant is €162,600 for a 1000kWp system. This grant is available to:

Track the solar energy your panels produce and even get paid for excess energy you don't use
If you generate surplus energy during the day it can be automatically redirected into battery storage, an immersion diverter to heat water – or, back to the grid where you get paid for the excess energy your farm doesn’t use. The VAT rate for solar pv systems is 0%. It’s win-win.
