Do you have inefficient window glass?

Use this quick tip to find out if your old glass is costing you

how to tell if you have inefficient glass

Inefficient window glass will allow valuable heat to escape and drive up your energy bills

What makes the glass inefficient?

Old, cold double glazed units that DO NOT have a heat-retaining coating or argon gas between the panes, are very inefficient when it comes to heat retention. Therefore, you have to spend even more money on heating your home because the old glass keeps allowing it to escape.

There is a simple solution.

Did you know that you can upgrade your existing double glazing to advanced Low-E-Plus heat-retaining glass and improve the efficiency by as much as 68%!  – without changing your window frames AND without the need to redecorate!

And, as you are only changing the glass you can save up to 50% of the full cost. Energlaze would not advocate changing the glass unless your window frames are in good condition. If your frames are in poor condition, we would recommend all new windows.

But how do you know if you have inefficient glass?

Well ,the coating and gas are both invisible – so it’s difficult to tell just by looking. But a starting point is to have a look at the spacer bar (spacer bars are used to separate the panes of glass to form a cavity that enables thermal insulation) and if it’s silver like the picture then its a fair assumption that you have inefficient glass. Energlaze offers a no obligation survey and quote so if you are still unsure, we would be happy to call out and advise on the best solution possible for a warmer, more comfortable home.
